Peter Schloeffel, from Trident Health Australia presented their Good Electronic Health Record. It started as Good European Health Record, and is now run by the openEHR organization. It is based on open architecture, uses COM, CORBA, cheap, readily available database program, and has much in common with the European standard, CEN. See www.gehr.org for more.
There is an American attempt toward open architecture called Open Health Forum, who has public domain stuff as well.
